Week 7 NFL Picks

This week of games was considerably more pleasant to me than many recent weeks.  I did not get every pick right, but I did fare fairly well.  Baltimore got their own butts handed to them on a platter, the Patriots struggled with a poor Jets team but still won.  Somehow the Titans put together enough offense to overtake the Bills, that did not make me happy.  For my picks, the straight up picks will be in bold and the spread picks will be italicized.

Seattle Seahawks @ San Francisco 49ers -7.5

San Francisco started out the season hot but their offense has recently fizzled.  Their defense is still good enough to keep Seattle in check however and the 49ers should come out with a close win.

Tennessee Titans @ Buffalo Bills -3.5

Tennessee is terrible, Buffalo is slightly better.  Chris Johnson should have a breakout game, but not do well enough to take down the Bills.

Cleveland Browns @ Indianapolis Colts -3.5

Cleveland has a very good defense but a horrible offense.  The Colts are coming together nicely and can beat most teams in the league.

Green Bay Packers @ St. Louis Rams +5.5

Green Bay has a much better overall team than St. Louis.

Arizona Cardinals @ Minnesota Vikings -5.5

Minnesota’s defense plays very well at home and Arizona has many troubles on offense.  A short field most of the night should let the Vikings take this one.

Washington Redskins @ New York Giants -6.5

The Giants seem to find a way to win against most teams.  RGIII can keep it close, but not overtake the defending champions.

New Orleans Saints @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers +2.5

Both defenses are porous, but the Saints have Drew Brees.

Dallas Cowboys@ Carolina Panthers +2.5

The Cowboys have had their issues, but they should be able to overcome their own mistakes against a team that is struggling to put points on the board.

Baltimore Ravens @ Houston Texans -6.5

The losses Baltimore experienced on the defensive side of the ball are too big for them to overcome in one week, especially against the favorites to represent the AFC in this year’s Superbowl.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Oakland Raiders -4.5

A battle between two of the league’s worst teams.  Oakland has a more experienced offense and that should push them ahead of Jacksonville in a close one.

New York Jets @ New England Patriots-10.5

New England has a far superior offense and a brilliant scheming defensive mind in BB.  The Jets should be no match.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals +2.5

Steelers have injury issues and the Bengals are on the verge of being a very good team.  At home they should be able to hold the Steelers offense in check.

Detroit Lions @ Chicago Bears-5.5

The Lions are struggling to show that they are not the team of two years ago and beyond and that they are turning the corner.  This is a bad week for them to attempt to do this, against a Bears defense that is giving up the least points per game in the league.

In this week I got 11 straight up picks right and 8 against the spread.  I do not have any numbers for this because I allowed some of the week 8 games play out before I checked my rankings.  I can tell you that I did better than the average in both for this week and am slowly climbing the ladder.

I will probably write about a lot of things nobody cares to read. There is also a good chance I do not update this very often.
