This week was full of upsets and this was bad news for my picks. The Dolphins finally did me right, meaning I finally picked their weekly fate correctly. This was not enough to overcome the horrible picks I made across the board, was a putrid week and transpired as follows. My straight up picks will be in bold and my picks against the spread will be italicized.
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Tennessee Titans +5.5
Tennessee looks to be one of the worst teams in the NFL, with one of the worst defenses and is having a lot of trouble getting their run game on track.
Oakland Raiders @ Atlanta Falcons-8.5
Atlanta started the week as one of two undefeated teams and Oakland is a mediocre team in one of the weaker divisions in the NFL.
Cincinnati Bengals@ Cleveland Browns +2.5
Cleveland went into the week as the only winless team and the Bengals have a stout defense with an offense that is on the rise.
St. Louis Rams @ Miami Dolphins-3.5
Miami has been surprising me with their ability to give games away, but I did not see that happening against a Rams team that was missing Amendola.
Indianapolis Colts@ New York Jets -3.5
The Jets are the most unpredictable team in the NFL. Indianapolis looks like a decent team that can play well in spurts and that should be good enough to take down the Jets.
Detroit Lions @ Philadelphia Eagles -5.5
Michael Vick has been the Eagles biggest setback through the first part of the season. Detroit has not played particularly well in any game and looks like they could finish last in the NFC North this season.
Kansas City Chiefs @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers-3.5
KC is possibly the worst team in the NFL (as the Jacksonville Jaguars shout “don’t forget about us”). Tampa Bay has the ability to beat many teams in this league.
Dallas Cowboys @ Baltimore Ravens-3.5
Dallas has not looked great in any game yet this season. Baltimore has done just enough to win most of their games and I see that happening in this one.
Buffalo Bills @ Arizona Cardinals -4.5
Maybe after this game Cardinals fans will shut their mouths? Arizona is nothing special, they just have an extremely well put together defense. If their offense can figure out their issues (meaning play a different QB) then they might be in contention in the NFC West.
New England Patriots @ Seattle Seahawks +3.5
Seattle plays very well at home, but not enough to overcome the Patriots amazing offense.
New York Giants @ San Francisco 49ers-5.5
San Francisco looks to be a favorite to win the NFC while New York looks to have a Superbowl hangover.
Minnesota Vikings @ Washington Redskins -2.5
RGIII has been a force to be reckoned with, but the Vikings look to be making a name for themselves.
Green Bay Packers @ Houston Texans-3.5
GB looks like they are struggling to find an offensive identity and Houston is on a tear.
Denver Broncos@ San Diego Chargers -2.5
Peyton Manning is too good to lose this much. The Chargers are a solid team but not world-beaters. I went with my gut on this one.
This week I had a sorry 6 in my straight up picks to put me at the 76.3 percentile and ranked 135,946. Against the spread I had a horrible 4 and that brings me to the 80.3 percentile and ranked 28,633. Better luck next week right?
